As one of the Marine Mammal Center’s largest fundraising events, all proceeds raised from this
event help support their ongoing work to rescue and treat ill, injured and orphaned marine
mammals. Since 1975, the Marine Mammal Center has rescued and treated over 12,000
animals, including elephant seals, sea lions, sea otters, harbor seals, fur seals, dolphins, and
harbor porpoises, while each year their marine science education programs and events reach
over 100,000 school children and members of the general public, helping to foster a sense of
responsibility and connection to the marine environment.
